Baptism

What's up, everyone! Pretty good week. Man, is the time flying past? Every week seems shorter than the last. Had a few exchanges. We went to another city in the Chaco, and they gave no AC. We literally died that day, haha. Also, our ZLs came, and I got to be with my MTC comp for the day. Pretty much everything fell through, but we found a great family, so that was good. Jisel, Karina, and Gisella got baptized. Not gonna lie, it was one of the best baptisms I've had in the mission so far. They literally don't understand anything we say, but they're very dedicated to following Christ. We taught them about temples the day before their baptism, and we showed them a picture, and they were just absolutely mesmerized. They told us that they want to go really bad. It was so cool and made me realize that we often take the temples for granted. Cool experience. Yesterday we went pretty far, like 3 hours of walking but on bikes. We found some really good people. But our tire popped...

Forgotten Birthdays And Rain

What's up, everyone! Another week down here in abundancia. It was kind of a crazy week. We had a zone conference, which is always super fun. I got to see some old companions and other friends, which was fun. We also had interviews with the president, which was great. We had exchanges in Asunción with a companionship who's struggling. Man, it was a bad day. The dude I was with wouldn't stop making vulgar comments, and it was just bad. We had the baptism of Jaime and Ercilia, and that was cool. We were supposed to also have the baptism of a couple, but they couldn't get married because the wife couldn't remember her birthday. Nobody else knows it as well. Absolutely nuts. She has no documents either, so that's kind of crazy. It also rained for the first time in like 7 months, which was pretty sick. It is unbelievably hot here, but we're living, haha. Work is super good. We set some new dates, and they all came to church, so that was pretty cool. We should have...

Jaguars, Stabbing Kids, Stupid Judge, And More Baptismal Dates

What's up, everyone! I hope you're all doing super well. This past week was absolutely nuts. It's hot as heck, but I just absolutely love it out here. To explain the title: We were walking down the street the other day with a member, and we started hearing noises in the trees. The member stopped and said, "That's a jaguar, run!" So, without asking questions, we all just ran for our lives. We were walking in the road, and we saw a group of about 30 kids around this old guy, so we went over to see what's up. Turns out the guy was using a sharpened deer antler to stab the kids' legs. He told us that it helps their muscles develop to run faster. I don't believe that, but I guess that's what they believe. We were going to have a wedding and baptism this week, but the judge never answered us. He finally texted us 30 minutes before the wedding, saying that he didn't want to do it and to come another time, but they'll get baptized this week. We...

Chaco Highlights

What's up, y'all! Another great week out here in the Chaco. I'm loving it here. A couple of highlights: Baptism of Fabio! He's super cool and was super ready for baptism. He wants to share with other people, which is great. We had dates with many of our friends, and many of our new friends came to church. It was great. We had a bash with a German dude... that was really interesting. Yesterday, our bikes broke in the middle of nowhere, and we had to walk for 2 hours. Had a sacrament meeting for 2 and a half hours. Don't ask me why. But yeah, it was a great week. I can't really remember everything that happened. I love y'all. See you next week.

The Chaco

What's up everyone! I hope you're all doing super well. So we had transfers this week, and I got transferred to a place called Abundancia. It's in a place called the Chaco in Northern Paraguay. It's a wild area in the middle of nowhere. It's a desert, and I'm in an indigenous community with a people called the Nivacle. It's absolutely wild. They only speak Nivacle, and it's really humbling to be here with them. There are a lot of animals like spiders and snakes and stuff. So yeah, it's pretty crazy. My new comp is Elder Bigelow. He's pretty cool. He's from Idaho and only has a bit of time in the mission. We have a bunch of friends who'll get baptized this month, which is cool. The people here are all suuuuuper shy but have a ton of interest. We taught a couple yesterday, and they didn't say a single word the whole lesson. At the end, we asked if they have a question, and they said, "yes, when can we get baptized?" It was pre...
