Hey everyone!!! How's it going? I hope you all had an amazing week. This week was pretty nuts.  So I received my son! Which is mission slang for new missionaries. His name is Elder Dowling and he's super sick. He's from Orange county California. He is super excited to work and can speak Spanish pretty well already so that's good haha. So nothing like crazy happened. We just worked like crazy this week. We spoke with every person we saw and just stuff like that. I havent worked this hard in my whole mission but it really paid off. We put our friends Sergio y Lisbeth on date. It was an absolute miracle. They happily accepted and are going to get married and baptized here shortly. I just love them so much and am soon excited for them they're going to be some great members of the church.  Almost all of our friends came to church this week which is a big contrast to the normal. I'm not really sure what changed, but they all came and had really good experiences and al...

¡Felicidades! / Congratulations!

Dear Elder Nathan Larkin,      Thank you for accepting the calling to serve as a Trainer in the Paraguay Asuncion North Mission. This calling has been extended to you after careful consideration and prayer. It is a calling from the Lord and is one of the most important leadership responsibilities in the Mission. This Mission can only be as good as the Missionaries and the Missionaries are only as good as their Trainers. Thus, in order to have faithful and obedient Missionaries, we must have faithful, obedient Trainers.        You have been selected to train a Missionary to become the most obedient and hard-working missionary in the Mission. This calling requires that you set a good example at all times. You will need to teach your companion the Missionary Purpose and the guidelines found in Missionary Standards for Disciples of Jesus Christ as well as in Preach My Gospel.        As a Trainer, ...

Covid, Fechas, And Transfers

Yeah so this week was pretty nuts. I'll jump right in. It all was very normal until the Exchange we had this Thursday. I was with my DL Elder Hansen in another area. We were on the way to a visit when I got a really bad headache out of nowhere. We kept pressing forward but the pain was too much for me. My vision started going blurry and was in immense pain when we arrived at the house we were going to. I honestly wanted to teach anyway but we decided to say a prayer to see what we should do. The thought immediately came to both of us that we needed to leave as fast as we could and go to the nearest pharmacy. So we went. We bought some ibuprofen and talked to a worker there. He had a ton of interest in the church. He told us he wants to change his life and come to church. It was so crazy to see how that all worked out. We wouldn't have found that guy if we didn't decide to do exchanges that day and I got the headache.  They ended up putting him on a date a few days later. An...

Covid...

Hi everyone!! I hope you all had a great week. My week was a bit interesting. I woke up on Tuesday morning to my comp saying that he feels sick. So we ended up going to the hospital. The doctor made him take a Covid test and it was positive. So we had to do a 5 day quarantine in the house.     It wasn't that bad at first working from the phone, but our phone ran out of data quickly. It took the secretary like the whole time to fix it. So we couldn't really do anything related to the work. So I read 2 books, learned how to solve a Rubix cube, learned a few songs on the guitar, and played a lot of chess against my comp. So yeah needless to say,  this week was a bit rough.     But yesterday our quarantine ended just in time to go to church. We did our best inviting people to come with the Phone and we were unsure what was going to happen. But the brother of members that we had found like a week ago came and he liked it so much that he invited his wife to come next ...

Keep Up The Work

Hey everyone! I hope you're all alive and well. So this week was a pretty slow week. Just nothing really happened. A whole lot of our appointments fell through and stuff like that.     So last week I wrote about our friends Sergio and Lisbeth. So basically they were kicked out of their house here in luque because the mom of Sergio was angry that he was gonna get baptized. So they moved to a different city. But this week we got a message out of the blue saying that they bought a house here in Luque again and that we could come and help them move and teach. We were sooooo hyped about that. But when we were about to leave she texted us saying that something happened and they couldn't move into their new house and are staying in her Grandma's house again. So that was a real big bummer. We still don't know if they're going to come back here or what is going to happen. But that was a pretty big blow for us.     But we kept working. We're teaching a family where the pa...

Feliz Año Nuevo!!!! Y 6 meses!!!

Feliz año nuevo a todos!!!! I actually can't believe how fast this year has gone by. What else I can't believe is that I spent half of it as a missionary. That's right, this past Tuesday I hit my 6 months mark. The 31st I was sitting back and reflecting on this past year. I do believe that it's been the best year of my entire life. Because of my mission. It has changed my life in every sense. I have grown my testimony of my savior immensely and I believe I'm a better person than ever. The Gospel of Jesucristo has changed my life just as much as the people I'm teaching. I can't really find the words to express the way I'm feeling. Yes it's been very difficult, But I'm just eternally grateful for this opportunity that my Heavenly Father has given to me to bless the lives of the People here in Paraguay. It has been a fantastic 6 months and I can't wait to see what will happen this next year and the remaining 18 months of my mission.      But yea...
