Return To The Chaco

Hey everyone!! This week was an amazing week!! We had Zone conference and I had to give my last testimony. That was a really surreal experience. It really made me realize how much I've grown and learned on my mission. Two huge miracles!!! Our friend Graciela will be baptized!! She is the mom of the guy we baptized about a month ago. She is basically a member already and is super converted. Just her boyfriend didn't want to get married to her. But this week we had a fire lesson and they committed to get married so she could get baptized (he's a member). Graciela's daughter Tamara had a date but then moved in with her boyfriend. She has literally read the entire Book of Mormon and knows it's true but couldn't get baptized for that reason. But after we taught them the law of chastity, he moved back to her mom's house so she could get baptized. She might get baptized this Saturday. We'll see. Sadly, our other friends that we found last week and went to churc...

Lots Of Interest

Hey everyone! It's been a while! I'll catch you all up. I'll send more emails with more pics. It's been a crazy time down here. We had the baptism of Oscar, Liza, and Milagros! They are a special family. They accepted the gospel so fast and got married and baptized. When we met them, they were completely hopeless and just sad. It's been crazy to see the change in them. I love them so much. Shortly after that, I got sick. A few times. And my companion. We went to the hospital a few times. Our friends that we had stopped progressing and everything went to crap. Not going to lie, it was a hard time. We started this week not really knowing what to do but saw many miracles. Our friend Oscar received a baptismal date. He is super smart and is studying to be a doctor. He has a ton of faith, and it was our second lesson with him. He came to church after not sleeping a wink the night before because of work and school. He also brought a friend with him that wants to be baptiz...

Last Transfer

What's up everyone! Sorry for not writing in forever. It's kind of hard now, but I'm just loving it here in Paraguay. I just started my last transfer, which is crazy. It's gone by unbelievably fast. It all kind of seems like a dream. I didn't get transferred or anything, so I'll end with the same comp and area. The work is going really well. We've baptized basically all of our friends, and now we're on the hunt, and it's been hard. People have been a bit colder than usual. But we found some really good people who should be ready to get baptized in May. One of them speaks fluent English, and we teach her in English. It's kind of funny. But yeah, it's all great! I didn't take a single picture this week. So sorry. But see you next week!

Easter

Man, what a great week. I'm alive, don't worry. The work is going nuts. A bit ago, I literally had no friends at all. But we prayed our hearts out and worked, and this last week was full of miracles. After zone conference, I got to do exchanges with my last comp, Elder Oler, and I still didn't know the area, so we just left and followed the spirit. We found Lisa, Oscar, Milagro, and Graciela, a complete family. When we arrived the first time, they seemed just completely hopeless and sad. But they quickly accepted the gospel, and they are completely different now. They have a rock-solid testimony, and it's amazing. They are going to get married and baptized this next month. We also found a couple of Cubans who ran away from Cuba because of the hard situation. They miss their family, and it's hard for them to fit in here in Paraguay. They are progressing super fast and came to church yesterday and want to get baptized. Also, our friend Osmar got baptized!! He already ...

What's up? No time. But I got transferred! I'm in a place called Mariano Roque Alonso just north of Asunción. My companion is Elder Christiansen from Spanish Fork. We had the baptism of Isabelino and Juana. They are amazing!! We also found their family after. Super sick!!

Life is good and challenges are boring to talk about so let's hit the highlights! The Church purchased the Kirtland temple on Monday, while we were on exchanges with the ZLs so we got to celebrate that together. Lots of impromptu performances of hymn #2 this week Exchanges were lit, Elder Bevan and I exchanged a few transfers ago when I was a ZL in Avilés and a lot has changed since then. We taught a couple lessons and street contacted a group of Dominican guys who were probably gang members but they actually seemed pretty interested in English class and a spiritual message. We also had exchanges in Bilbao with our DL, Elder Dayley. Full of exchanges this week. Our friend Johana came to church for the second week in a row and is starting to connect with our members! We've got a visit to her house set up for this week as well.  Today on P-day we went up something between a big hill and a small mountain and got smitten with freezing rain and high winds while we took some awesome ...
