PJC Week 1

Image
What's good everyone!! First week here in the new area. Not gonna lie, it was pretty good. My area is super good with a lot of really humble people. My area is in the sticks. And when I say the sticks I mean it haha. It's really been an adventure. I like walking through the rainforest everyday.  We have a few friends that are progressing well. We put a date for a family for May 6th and we have another on the 13th that we are hoping will happen.  This week it was FREEZING. Way colder than St George. So that was kind of a shock. My new companion Elder Rosas is a machine. He works super hard and is a good missionary. Being a ZL is pretty good. I never have time to just relax at night before now but such is life. I feel like it's going pretty good and I'm adapting fast. But yeah that's about all that happened this week. I love you all so much!! I hope you have a great week! Sorry for the lack of picks. I'll do better.

Felicitaciones!

Dear Brother and Sister Larkin,        We are very pleased to inform you that your son, Elder Nathan Larkin, has recently been called to serve as a Zone Leader in our mission. The call comes from the Lord. He has been an example to his fellow missionaries of obedience, diligence, and charity. He is, therefore, both respected and loved and we have the utmost confidence in him.       The call to a position of leadership in this mission is an honor; however, with that honor comes great responsibility. Your son will be expected to ‘lead from the front’ by establishing and maintaining a successful proselyting program of his own, as well as training and assisting other missionaries in their efforts. He will be working very hard and will be blessed in his efforts by your special prayers and by your support through encouraging and uplifting correspondence.       Thank you so much for preparing such a wonde...

Felicidades!

Dear Elder Nathan Larkin,    Thank you for accepting the call to serve as a Zone Leader in the Paraguay Asuncion North Mission. This calling has been extended to you after careful consideration and prayer. It is a calling from the Lord, and it will require your very best efforts. You have been called to serve in this capacity because of your faithfulness. As you seek guidance from the Lord and work diligently, you will be blessed to carry out the work that the Lord has prepared for you to accomplish.      You will need to thoroughly understand and teach the purpose of a missionary, which is to invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and his Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.      As a leader in the mission, you will be required to always set a good example in obedience and diligence. You will need to have a...

Transfers

What's up y'all!!! Another great week filled with miracles.   This week we went to the house of the Osorio family. They weren't progressing and we went there to explain that we weren't going to teach them more. We had invited them to be baptized like 10 times. But I felt like I should extend the invitation one more time and they actually accepted. It was a miracle. The spirit was super strong. We also had the baptism of Josh and Alondra. It was super great and really spiritual. They were super excited. Besides that, super normal week, until Sunday night when I got a call from the President telling us that I'm getting transferred to an area called Pedro Juan Caballero (or PJC for short) and that I'm going to be Zone Leader. Kinda nervous but it'll be a good time I'm sure. The area is way up in the north on the border of Brazil.  Sorry I kinda ran out of time. See y'all next week!

La Semana Santa. And More baptisms!!

This week was another great week! First off they have a thing here called holy week which is like the week before christ's resurrection. It was actually pretty cool. But many people were partying and stuff so it was kind of hard to work, but we pushed through it. It rained so much this week I couldn't believe it. Our apartment flooded and I was just soaking wet constantly.  But besides that it was a great week. We had some pretty fire lessons. We taught the family that we put on date in the first lesson and they agreed to get married before their baptism in 2 weeks. Absolutely golden family it's unbelievable. We have a lot of friends that are progressing well.  This Saturday David and Alexis got baptized!! We've been teaching them for a long time and they finally came to church and got baptized and confirmed. Now the whole family of 9 are members. The spirit was suuuuper strong. It was amazing.  This Easter was amazing. Our mission president gave a devotional about the ...

What's up everyone!!! I hope you all had a wonderful week! My week was pretty amazing This week I completed 9 months in the mission, which is pretty lit. It's absolutely flying by. It seems like I started yesterday. It feels like I finally know what I'm doing which is great. We actually have transfers soon and I'm going to leave si o si. A HUGE miracle happened this week. We had the first visit with a family of 4. I felt really strongly to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ instead of the restoration. They were super interested and asked us how they can get baptized. So we put them on date for the 29th in the first visit. It was pretty wild. The watched conference and they loved it. We also found a ton of people this week that have a ton of potential.  This week there was conference and it was fire. I absolutely loved it. President Nelson's talk about being a peacemaker was amazing. I really felt the spirit confirming that he's a prophet But yeah that's about ...
