What's up, everyone! Man, was this just such a good week. We saw so many miracles this week.
So for a bit of context, I'm in an indigenous community called Abundancia. But every single person here is a member. So we spend most of our time working in other communities around here. We've been having a lot of success in the neighboring community called Jope. But this last P-Day, we decided to just work in Abundancia and visit some members. As we were walking, we saw a lady struggling to carry water to her house (because no one has water, they have to fill up buckets from little pond things). We decided to go help carry her water. We arrived at her house, and her husband asked us if we had pamphlets so he could go teach his neighbor. We were shocked because he said his neighbor isn't a member but lives in Abundancia. We went to his house and put him on a date to be baptized.
The very next day, we visited another member, and some lady we didn't recognize was in the lesson. At the end, she said she's not a member and wants to learn more. This was just absolutely nuts. We found two people in Abundancia. Anyone that's here in the mission knows that it's an absolute miracle.
We had the baptism of Isidia and Jairo!! We found them like a month ago on a Saturday, and they've gone to church every Sunday since the first lesson. Such great people, especially Isidia. She understands zero Spanish but is learning by reading the Book of Mormon. She reads a page a day, which takes her several hours. Her family was super against her baptism. They all yelled at her on Friday night, but she still came and got baptized, even though no one from her family came. Just amazing. She has such a strong testimony. They walk about 45 minutes to church every week.
This Sunday, none of our friends came to church. Luckily, Isidia and Jairo came to get confirmed, but no one else did. Everyone went to the baptism of another church. Man, did this hurt. We ended up stopping teaching almost everybody. This happened in every area up here as well. I just felt bad and had no idea what happened. Yesterday I felt more discouraged than any other day of my mission. And I know it was Satan because there was no reason to feel like that. We talked with our clutch zone leaders, and they told us to just look at a map and pray about where to go. So that's what we did. We both felt a huge impression to go to a community kind of far away. So we cleared out our whole day and went over there. And that's where we found Luis. He's a Paraguayan who speaks perfect Spanish, has a car, a big family, and is just a good guy. He immediately received and told us he'd been waiting for us. We taught him the restoration, and the man just immediately accepted it. He might be the most golden person I've ever met on the mission and will literally be a leader of the church. Such a big miracle I can't even find the words.
So yeah, sorry this was so long, it was just a great week, and I wanted to share it all with you guys. I know that this is the Lord's work. I love you all and see you next week!
