Mi Primer Bautismo!... And I Got Arrested

Muy buenos días a todos! Espero que todos hayan tenido una excelente semana! Because I sure did. I literally saw so many miracles this week that I think I'm dreaming

So I'll start from the beginning :

The week started pretty awful. It had rained for like 4 days straight and it was flooding everywhere and I was just constantly soaking wet. And no one wanted to accept us in their houses haha. But something crazy that happened is that the mom of the girls that were going to be baptized started to talk to us. Started accepting us in her house. So we were able to finish teaching everything  and she was pretty interested too. She even offered to say some prayers in the lessons. It was an absolute miracle.

Then on Friday we had scheduled their interview for 5 o'clock in the church. So we were all sitting there waiting and they just never showed up. We waited anxiously for over 30 min. We had called them and texted them and they didn't answer. We thought they had bailed on us and we were super sad. We decided to leave and call it good, when they appeared in the door. They all had their interviews and it went really well. That was definitely a scare.

Directly after that we went to the house of a reference that we had just received, not really expecting much, we  started teaching lesson 2. The plan of salvation. At the end, she straight up told us she wants to be baptized. So we put her on date right there on the first visit. We were literally so happy, but things got a little weird after that.

We were going to take a taxi from katuete to puente so we could wake up early and prepare everything for the baptism. As we were waiting, elder aparicio said "just wait, something always goes wrong before a baptism" and that was so true. On the back the taxi we were in got pulled over. The officer looked in the car and saw me. He then told us to get out of the car, including the driver. He then asked for my papers. I reached in my bag and realized that they weren't there. In the rush i had left them at the house. Then the officer was really angry say i was illegal and stuff and like that. We called the APs and they convinced the officer to let me go to the house, get my papers and take them to the police station the next day. So, I'll admit the title is a bit of a clickbait, but it was actually really close. They whole day after we were joking that not even the cops can stop us from baptizing.

But yeah the next day we had the baptism of dalila, ruth, and lidia. Three sisters. My first baptism!! It was such a special moment for every person there. The girls are really shy, but hearing their testimonies at the end, had everyone in tears. I got to baptize all three of them. They were so sure of their decision and it really made an impact on everyone there. Their mom was crying the entire time. So we hope to put her on date as well. Almost every member came up to us after the baptism giving us references of people to go visit.

The next day, I gave a full length 15 min talk in sacrament meeting on the spot. That was crazy. Everyone was shocked at how good my Spanish was. And then we went to go visit a man who was the branch president, but then went inactive for 8 years. We had been visiting him and he's started coming back to church. On this visit, he told us that his kids haven't been baptized, so we put them all on date on the first visit as well.

Literally so many miracles in just this week. The Lord is very aware of our situation and he's been leading us to people who are ready to be baptized. It literally feels like I'm dreaming. We have transfers in 2 weeks and I'm sooo scared that  I'm going to get transferred because I really don't want to leave. But we'll see what happens.

Sorry that this email was super long. It's just that so much happened. I hope you all have a fantastic week! Ciao!
