Lizards, Worms, And Tarantula's
Mba'eichepa ndephyhareve! Another great week down here in Paraguay! I hope you all are having a great week!
This week we were kind of stressing out a little bit because we had to stop teaching a lot of our friends because no one that we find has a lot of interest. It's been a bit of a struggle to work throughout the entire day because we don't have a lot of amigos and there's just not a lot of members to visit. But it's been really amazing to see the Lord literally giving us people. A few times this week we decided to just take a different route or change our plans, or just simply walk around for a while just because we feel the spirit. Every time that we've done that, we've found someone that wants to progress. This week we were hoping to find all their families. We've really changed up the way we work. We're contacting literally everybody that we see in the street and visiting every member possible. It seems to be working. The Lord really knows our situation and we've seen his hand guiding us to people to teach.
But one of the people we found is an 18 year old boy who's really excited. We hope to set a date and baptize him super soon so he can come with us in lessons. We've been bringing all of the teenagers to our lessons with us. It's been making them all really excited to go serve their own missions. They've asked us for little packets so that they can share with all of their friends. So so cool.
We have a baptism planned for this Saturday for 3 sisters. They're really excited but their mom literally hates us and we don't know why. She approves of the baptism, but she doesn't want us to come over and teach, or accompany them in their interviews. So we can teach the last lesson or have the interview. It's super stressful but we have faith that the Lord will soften her heart. It's literally been forever since the last baptism so we decided we'd get started cleaning the font. We opened it up and it was absolutely disgusting! There were lizards and hundreds of worms crawling around. There was even a tarantula in there which Elder Aparicio attacked with a broom. But yeah that was hilarious.
We had zone conference on Thursday so we had to travel overnight to Asunción. But it was super great! I learned a whole lot and every missionary thought that I had like a year in the mission because of my Spanish. They were all really surprised to hear that I'm still in my training. I learned so much and it was just a great day. Because we had like 8 hours until our bus left, we did exchanges with some missionaries. I taught the guy I was with some really funny ways to contact in the street and he absolutely loved it.
But man, I am just absolutely loving the work. I've learned more these last 3 and a half months about myself, my savior, and Spanish than in my entire life. Everyday is a new adventure. I finally feel like Paraguay is home i think. My Spanish is super good and I can speak super good. I still wouldn't say that I'm fluent, but I can understand everything and I can talk so the members finally talk to me haha. I've also started learning Guarani. I hope to be able to speak by the time i get back.
But yeah that's pretty it. I love reading all of your emails. And I do read them all. Sorry if I don't respond. I'll see y'all next week! Ciao!
