Semana 2
Wow this week was wild haha. Honestly not a whole lot happened, but there were some funny moments. We met this guy who thinks he's a prophet and that if he finds this rock, he can put it in his wrist and be immortal. And that he spends his whole life looking for it. It was very strange, haha. There are a lot of really weird people here, but most of them are so nice and humble. Everyone wants to talk to us haha and sometimes it's a little annoying. But it helps us find a lot of people to teach so that's good. But a lot of them aren't even interested, they want to meet with us just to talk. Like yesterday we taught this one guy about the restoration. He said that he completely believed us and that he could feel the spirit. And that joseph smith was indeed real. And he agreed to read the book of mormon, but he said that he is 100% carholic and not willing to change. That was super disappointing. We're going to keep meeting with him though.
I feel like I'm finally getting used to being here. It is a completely different world out here haha. But I love it. My Spanish is getting super good. I can understand more and more everyday. I can talk to people now and fully participate in lessons which is so awesome. It's truly a miracle. I still can't understand the old people because they have crazy accents and speak better than Spanish, but neither can Elder Smith so it's ok haha. I still have a lot to learn, but I'm learning super fast.
This week I realized why missionary work is so hard. Like I said, not a whole lot happened and I say that quite literally. Almost every one of our appointments fell through. Investigators that were improving fast just stopped talking to us. And our investigators that are close to baptism are still having problems that we are not really sure how to help. And yesterday only a few came to church when many said that they would. All of this was really discouraging, but we were pressing forward with faith. And I'm definitely enjoying my time here, it's difficult but i wouldnt rather be anywhere else.
I definitely think there's a reason for what's happening. I'm definitely learning how to be patient and press forward with faith. I know that if I work hard and be obedient, I will be led to people who are ready in time. And it's great because me and my companion are genuinely friends. We're both willing to work hard and love it at the same time, which is such a blessing. We've found out how to stay positive in hard times. And he helps me out with everything without being annoyed.
Thanks everyone for all of your support and prayers! I really appreciate it. Keep writing me! I love hearing from all of you. But that's all for this week! I'll see you all next week. Also, another email is coming with pictures so don't freak out.
