¡México!
Wow what a crazy, fun, exciting, crazy week! Mexico has been an absolute blast. It has been filled with many spiritual experiences. I have been able to feel Heavenly Fathers love for me constantly. If you are worried about me, just don't be because I would much rather be here than in the States right now. Sorry guys. I truly feel like México is my home now.
After about 14 hours of traveling last Tuesday we made it. We had like a 6 hour layover in Dallas. We had traveled with a group of about 10 missionaries. While we were in the airport we decided to all read the Book of mormon together. It was super loud in the airport , but as soon as we started reading, it got really quiet. And after we finished it was just as loud as normal again. It was a really cool experience. I made it through security just fine, despite not being able to understand a thing they were saying.
It was suuuuuper fun meeting my district in person finally. We have grown super close to each other. I feel like they are my new family. I would not change a thing. I also was called as district leader which I definitely don't deserve but I'm excited to serve.
Mexico is very different from the states. I was absolutely blown away at how big it was as we were flying in. It is really hot here. Not really, but it's pretty humid and there is no ac in any of the buildings. And there is surprisingly not a lot of access to water. I haven't had cold water since I got here. I'm used to it now, but at the beginning it was quite the shock and I felt like I was going to die throughout the day haha. There are also LOTS of mosquitoes. And that is not an exaggeration. I have been absolutely eaten alive by mosquitoes. The food here is very good. It has caused some very upset stomachs, but it's good. I live in a house with 23 other Elders and it's kind of crazy. It is also super loud at night. There's dogs barking, police sirens, train horns, and what I hope to be fireworks all night long. Mexico is way different, but I wouldn't change a thing.
On Monday, Elder Robb and I spoke only Spanish. Not any English. It was wayyyy hard, but at the end of the day, we were really good at it. It helped my Spanish a lot. I am now at the point where I can study the scriptures and PME completely in Spanish. I can also teach an entire lesson in Spanish with relative ease. I can also talk pretty well too, but I struggle with understanding natives because they talk super fast. Elder Robb is improving so fast it is insane. Im super proud of him
Lastly, we went to the temple today. The session was completely in Spanish, but I felt the spirit stronger than anytime I've gone in English. I could also understand it pretty well but not perfectly. It was a super spiritual experience being there with my district and other missionaries as well. It is such a beautiful temple. I also like latinos more than Americans now. Sorry. They are just so humble, funny, kind, and suuuuuper spiritual. Us Americans need to step it up fr.
Anyway, I gotta go now because I don't have a lot of time, but I hope you all have a great week! Also, I have no idea how to get my pictures on here so I will be sending a separate email with them, ¡Hasta Luego!
